SXSW!!

I will probably not do too many music/video posts and while I realize I did one yesterday I can't help myself.  As anyone who is anyone knows Austin has a music festival every spring called South by Southwest (SXSW).  This year will be my first "official" SX and I am more than excited.  They just announced all the times and locations today and I was excited to see that one of my new (probably old to others because I seem behind on SO many things lately!) fave songs/songwriters is Sarah Jaffe.  So enjoy Clementine!

To leopard? Or not to leopard? That is the question.

A while back I posted a picture of this coat.  I actually own and love this coat.  I mean LOVE.  The weight is perfect for Austin "winter" and it jazzes up jeans and a t-shirt/cardigan situation.  I have seen so many similar coats of my favorite blogs.  Fashion Toast, Somethin Navy, Cupcakes and Cashmere, Stockholm Street Style and the list could go on and on.  (see the blog roll on the right to check out these awesome blogs).  Oddly though when I wear this coat, although I feel fabulous in it, someone, usually a guy, almost always commetns on it.  The comments are not really complimentary nor are they especially derogatory...they are just...odd.  If you follow fashion at all you know that leopard print is absolutely EVERY WHERE.  Shoes, coats, cardigans, tops, belts, bags, scarves etc.  I have long been a lover of leopard print and have adopted my friend Kim's theory that leopard print is in fact a neutral.  However, I have seen several polls in magazines lately that guys are not necessarily fans of the fun print.  Between this and the comments I have receieved, I am wondering where everyone else falls in the great leopard debate?  Personally I will keep rocking it because I love it.  And I dress for myself...most of the time...

Antivalentine?

I heard this song months ago and have been OBSESSED with it ever since.  I mean, ridiculously obessesed.  Playing it over and over again in the car and singing as loudly as possible.  Much to the chagrin, I am sure, of other drivers.  In the past couple of weeks I have been hearing/seeing every where.  And I, of course, am feeling quite smug that I have been in love with it for months.  I saw it touted today as an "antivalentine" song.  I am not really sure about all of that, but what I do know is that her vocals on this are AMAZING.  Enjoy!

Heat Wave

A mammoth storm has incapacitated much of the United States and here in Austin it has left us mostly alone but with much colder temperatures than usual.  Thus leaving yours truly dreaming of warmer, summer days filled with sunshine and trips to Town Lake (Monday anyone?!?!).  Although I really shouldn't complain in light of my home state's below freezing temps and literally feet of snow, I wanted to share a few things I have been daydreaming about wearing on said sunny days.  This J.Crew two piece is a flashback to an iconic time where Marilyn Monroe graced the silver screen (and I have a little gym time to put in before this is an option).  If you have not ever had a pair of Havianas, get one.  Now.  They are by far the best, most comfortable pair of flip flops I have ever owned.  I once found my sister a pair at Ross (I know right?) for $6.  A straw tote is a must have for summer.  Enough said.  This one is from J.Crew.  I am loving this Rachel Pally dress via Piperlime because it is so simple and stripes are oh-so-of-the-moment.  Finally, the cherry on the sundae; a classic pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers in tortoise.  Love.  (sigh)  This has made me feel warmer already.  But let me get back to you when the thermometer reads 110.

I don’t know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot. — Marilyn Monroe
